2006 compilation of tracks from the '90s 'Madchester' heyday, handpicked by Happy Mondays' maraca-shakin' Bez himself! Includes tracks popular in the clubs and raves a few years prior to the Britpop scene, including The Charlatans' 'The Only One I Know', 808 State's 'Pacific State', The Shamen's 'Move Any Mountain', New Order's 'Blue Monday '88', The Stone Roses' 'She Bangs The Drums', Primal Scream's 'Loaded', James' 'Come Home', The Farm's 'Groovy Train', The La's 'There She Goes', The Beloved's 'Hello', The Smiths' 'Panic', Inspiral Carpets' 'This Is How It Feels' and many more.
This music was criminally overlooked by America when it was new, so I'm doing my part to make sure Americans hear it now! I like how this compilation puts the electronica in with the rock. As a guy in the U.S. this is as close as I'll get to being in Manchester in the early 90's. It really is a shame that bands like Stone Roses, James, 808 State, and Inspiral Carpets go unheard in America.
